2023 Triathlons Raise over £6600 for Tayside Mountain Rescue
Tri Angus Ltd are delighted to announce that participants at the 2023 Montrose and Forfar Triathlons have raise £6684.11 for the events charity partner, Tayside Mountain Rescue (TMR), meaning the total raise throughout the 5 year partnership is now just over £23,300.
Event participants were given the chance to raise funds in three ways. Thirteen participants at each event were given the chance to join “Team TMR” and raise funds for the charity via sponsorship from friends, family and colleagues. Participants could also donate to TMR when they signed up to take part in the events and finally, local sports massage therapists from Sattva Wellness took donations in return for a 15 minute post event rub-down to help sooth any aches and pains!
The partnership, which is now in it’s fifth year, has proved to be a very successful one for both organisations and both Tri Angus Ltd and Tayside Mountain Rescue are delighted that it will continue next year for a sixth year. In return for supporting TMR, a team of volunteers from TMR provide first aid cover at both the Montrose and Forfar Triathlons.
Maggie Lawrie, Event Director from Tri Angus Ltd, commented “The total raised this year is amazing so a big thank you to everyone who has helped contribute to that. We are very proud to be able to support a fantastic charity who provide a lifesaving service for us, the public. We hope no one ever needs them but having got to know several of the Team members over the years, we are in safe hands if we do.
“It’s very much a partnership between the two organisations. The TMR Team provide our event first aid and it’s very reassuring for both us as event organisers and the participants knowing that should they need medical assistance they are in very safe hands. We can’t thank the volunteers enough for giving up their time to help us.”
Paul Russell, Tayside Mountain Rescue Senior Team Leader, commented “Tayside Mountain Rescue Team are delighted to be associated both as the charity partner and with providing first aid cover for both events. I would like to thank all the participants and their families who donated and took sponsored places. Also, thanks again to Sattva Wellness for their continued support with donations. The number of call-outs we are getting each year is increasing however the financial support we see from the Scottish Government to help us maintain our kit and equipment doesn’t cover a full year’s expenditure. Fundraisers like the Montrose and Forfar Triathlons are therefore vital for us to ensure our volunteer rescue teams can safely continue the lifesaving work we do. Here’s to 2024!”
Michaella Robb, Founder of Sattva Wellness in Forfar, commented “We are grateful for the opportunity to have supported TriAngus at the Forfar and Montrose Triathlons for a number of years. It has been a pleasure to help raise money towards Tayside Mountain Rescue, alongside offering well deserved post-event massages to the participants. It is always great fun to be involved with the Triathlons, they are full of energy, and are well supported by participants from near and far.”
Planning is well under way for the 2024 events and dates will be announced before Christmas.
