20 Nov 18:  Tri Angus Limited, organiser of the Montrose and Forfar Triathlon events, are delighted to announce that a total of £4300 has been raised for Tayside Mountain Rescue (TMR) by participants of the 2018 Montrose and Forfar Triathlon events.

Event participants were given the chance to raise funds in three ways.  Thirteen participants at each event were given the chance to join “Team TMR” and raise funds for the charity via sponsorship from friends, family and work colleagues.  Participants could also donate to TMR when they signed up to take part in the events and finally, local sports massage therapists from Sattva Wellness took donations in return for a 15 minute post event rub-down to help sooth any aches and pains!

This was the second year the two organisation had partnered and, based on the success to date, it is hoped it won’t be the last.  In return for supporting Tayside Mountain Rescue, a team of 6 volunteers from TMR provided first aid cover at both the Montrose and Forfar Triathlons, something the organisers are very grateful for.

Maggie Lawrie, Event Director, commented “One of our roles as event organisers is to deliver a safe event for everyone to enjoy.  Knowing that we have such an experienced team of first aiders on call to deal with any issues should they arise is not only very reassuring for us, but also for the event participants.  We are delighted that we can support TMR and the work they do and thank them very much for their continued support of our events.

“The total raised from the two events this year is absolutely fantastic and we can’t thank our event participants enough for their generosity.  We know the money raised will be put to good use keeping the team’s volunteers, and their customers, safe while out on a call.”

Paul Russell, Tayside Mountain Rescue Team Deputy Team Leader commented, “Tayside Mountain Rescue Team are proud to be associated with Tri Angus Ltd at both the Forfar and Montrose Triathlons.

“As ever, the generosity of participants, competitors taking the sponsored places and Sattva Wellness, is amazing and massively appreciated. This funding goes towards providing vital lifesaving equipment that the Team need to operate effectively.

Plans are already underway for the 2019 Montrose and Forfar Triathlon events and the dates for both events will be announced in the coming weeks so watch this space…!
